Motivating Others
This weekend I was down in Fort Lauderdale Florida at one of our offices (as you can see by the picture)…my job there: To re-invigorate the team. Motivate. No easy task yet I had alot of fun. This morning I was contemplating on my weekend and asked myself…what motivates others? I thought it would be a great topic for blogging.

Motivation comes from within, from a person’s own psyche, the innermost recesses of the soul, secret desires and deep-rooted needs which motivate, “push” us towards that which we want. What a leader can do is create an environment in which his or her team can feel motivated.

Many people go through life obscuring their intrinsic nature, their “motivations”. Some of us abandoned our dreams to deal with life’s realities. Having to conform to society, family, corporate world and other stuff, each of which dictates its code of conduct: how to think, feel, eat, speak, behave and dress. Our true selves disappear or get buried. It is only by triggering and bringing out into the light people’s intrinsic nature, gifts and secret desires that a leader gives birth to his or her people’s opportunity to feel motivated.

A person’s motivation is a combination of desire and energy directed at achieving a goal. Influencing someone’s motivation means getting them to want to do what you know must be done. A person’s motivation depends upon two things:
The strength of certain needs. For example, you are hungry, but you must have a task completed by a nearing deadline. If you are starving you will eat. If you are slightly hungry you will finish the task at hand.

The perception that taking a certain action will help satisfy those needs. For example, you have two burning needs – The desire to complete the task and the desire to go to lunch. Your perception of how you view those two needs will determine which one takes priority. If you believe that you could be fired for not completing the task, you will probably put off lunch and complete the task. If you believe that you will not get into trouble or perhaps finish the task in time, then you will likely go to lunch.

People can be motivated by such forces as beliefs, values, interests, fear, and worthy causes. Some of these forces are internal, such as needs, interests, and beliefs. Others are external, such as danger, the environment, or pressure from a loved one. There is no simple formula for motivation — you must keep an open viewpoint on human nature, we are funny creatures.

Be The Difference
Be the Change you want to see in the World.

Many of us tend to complain about the ‘problems’ in our world, in our home, in our relationships etc.

What most fail to see is that change starts with one unselfish act from within each and everyone of us. One kind word, one good deed and one decision to be the change we wish to see.

Let us go forth this week and seek to be that change that we wish to see in the world.

Do Not Quit

Don’t Quit

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will
When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill
When the funds are low and the debts are high
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh

When care is pressing you down a bit
Rest, you must – but don’t you quit
Life is queer with its twists and turns
As everyone of us sometimes learns

And many a failure turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out
Don’t give up, though the pace seems slow
You might succeed with another blow

Success is failure turned inside out, the silver tint of the clouds of doubt
And you never can tell how close you are, It may be near when it seems so far
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit
It’s when things seem worst, That you MUST NOT QUIT!

There are no shortcuts or secrets to building self-discipline. It’s hard work to keep moving towards a goal when you desperately want to throw in the towel and take it easy.

Unfortunately every time you quit, you reinforce your tendency to give up in future situations and progressively weaken your willpower.

Whenever you stay the course through a hard day, you strengthen your will, allowing you to handle future challenges with greater ease.

In Humble Servitude

Humble servitude does not mean ‘sucker’. To me, it means gracious giving from the heart. Many feel that they need to get …before they give, that others have to approach THEM before THEY reach out; that others need to accommodate to THEIR needs rather then being flexible and understanding to the needs of OTHERS.

It seems sometimes that too many people walk around like they are sucking on a sour candy, and are to cheap to give freely a warm and kind smile to their fellow human. Serving and greeting those you meet with a smile will bring positive energy around you. Surprisingly, events will move with more ease in your life.

Many confuse Humble Servitude with weakness and that is a HUGE misunderstanding. A Humble Servant can handicap you and leave you in the dust, and you wont even know what happened! You may think the whole while that they are weak, but it is in Giving that they find their strength. They live to serve, and love to live.

Humble Servants aim for the stars and get the Universe. The Humble Servant will give of the one thing that most of us abuse: Their Time.

Your Word

Many take for granted the power of the spoken Word and just babble whatever comes out without much concern of the after effect.

In simple observation, it is not too complicated to understand that there is energy in sound, as there is energy in words. There are certain words that can be empowering while others can just zap the life force out of you. Most would agree that if you add the right word and utter it with true intent — a manifestation will take place.

We’ve seen it many times…if not in real life…at least in the movies: He looks at her and she looks at him, with passion in his voice he tells her, “I love you” – she feels the love energy from his words and embraces him in acknowledgment.

What if you CHOSE to only speak empowering words? What if you really CHOSE to be responsible for the word you use? What if you truly began to BELIEVE that YOUR words have a strong effect on your reality? …What words would you use to paint your world?
