A Newborn ‘ s Conversation with God

A baby asked God, “They tell me you are sending me to earth tomorrow, but how am I going to live there being so small and helpless?”

God said, “Your angel will be waiting for you and will take care of you.”

The child further inquired, “But tell me, here in heaven I don’t have to do anything but sing and smile to be happy.”

God said, “Your angel will sing for you and will also smile for you. And you will feel your angel’s love and be very happy.”

Again the small child asked, “And how am I going to be able to understand when people talk to me if I don’t know the language?”

God said, “Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words you will ever hear, and with much patience and care, your angel will teach you how to speak.”

“And what am I going to do when I want to talk to you?”

God said, “Your angel will place your hands together and will teach you how to pray.”

“Who will protect me?”

God said, “Your angel will defend you even if it means risking its life.”

“But I will always be sad because I will not see you anymore.”

God said, “Your angel will always talk to you about Me and will teach you the way to come back to Me, even though I will always be next to you.”

At that moment there was much peace in Heaven, but voices from Earth could be heard and the child hurriedly asked, “God, if I am to leave now, please tell me my angel’s name.”

God said, You will simply call her, “Mom.”

I don’t recall having any worries when I was five.
No worries about losing my home,
No worries about going hungry,
No worries about being loved,
No worries about the worthiness of my existence.

Fifty years later in an uncertain economy these thoughts have crossed my mind. Where do these thoughts come from? I’ve pondered on that… could I be like a dream catcher observing the passing thoughts of others?

For if that is the case, these thoughts dare to threaten my daily existence.

Here in America our society is built on a kind of restlessness and search for more, more, more.

Yet, stability says, “Stop. Look. Listen. Salvation is at hand. Find happiness here or find it nowhere.”

Yes, happiness, contentment and joy are possible.

Stability means that we can find happiness right where we are.

What sense have I made of this? First of all, as painful as it may be it all starts with forgiveness and not laying blame.

For me, I had to step out of the fantasy I had created and awaken to the reality of my situation. Struggling for my daily existence while maintaining a positive outlook has been my way since I left my parents home.

My mom always said, don’t share your problems with others because no one is interested. Despite the wisdom, I have found that many people then assume that I don’t have problems. These problems… I have convinced myself to be self created. In this twisted way I stay sane and tell myself that I have attracted these challenges so that I can learn some unknown lesson and satisfy my Karma.

When I let go and see myself as a grain of sand on a beach, I experience freedom.

I thought that I was ‘somebody’, that I was making a difference in the world. Now, I see that I am nothing and that my deeds go on into the collective nothingness.

More than any other time in history, mankind faces a crossroads. One path leads to despair and utter hopelessness. The other, to total extinction. Let us pray we have the wisdom to choose correctly.
Woody Allen, 1935-

Daisy Says: Release yourself to the collective nothingness.

I start this post today with a question…
How long does it take for one inch of soil to form? According to soilscience:
The formation of soil is a complex process that can take more than a thousand years to produce just a single inch of soil. Soil has been defined as the upper layer of earth in which plants grow, a black or dark brown material typically consisting of a mixture of organic remains.

It’s worth repeating: 1 inch can take more than a thousand years to produce!
So it us upon US… not governments, but INDIVIDUALS… people like you and me, to build soil. Plant trees. Grow food. Make Do. Do Without.

Give what you can to others. Fix your mistakes. Cut back your carbon footprint. And every time you feel like giving in (I’m speaking from first person experience), close your eyes and imagine your nieces and nephews, your children or grandchildren or your friend’s beloved children grown to womanhood and manhood in a world where there is food and peace and water.

…then imagine them without.

And ask yourself “What else don’t I need so I can be the change that offers a chance to the future.” Soon you’ll discover that most of the time you don’t NEED anything… it’s the WANTs that makes gluttons out of decent souls.

Daisy Says: The NEED to protect our planet makes me WANT the joy of a simple life.

“Life is an unfoldment, and the further we travel, the more truth we comprehend. To understand the things that are at our door is the best preparation for understanding those that lie beyond.” Hypatia

I hope that you may find joy as I did in knowing that such a woman walked this earth.

Hypatia a mathematician and astronomer was born about 355 A.D daughter of Theon of Alexandria. Theon wanting his daughter to be the best she could be, he made sure to educate her in all of these subjects…as well as developing a physical routine to ensure for her a healthy body. A brilliant young woman, Hypatia surpassed her father’s knowledge.

Hepatia became a teacher at Alexandria’s Neoplatonic School; later she became its director…a remarkable accomplishment for a woman in those days. Her lectures were lively and interesting, and she was loved and admired by all and well respected by many of the officials. Many prominent Christians were among her pupils, including Synesuis, who was later to become the Bishop of Ptolemais

Profoundly liberated for her time, she refused to marry and drove her own chariots through the streets of the city. The invention of the astrolabe is accredited to her.

But, Hypatia lived at a time when there was conflict between the Pagans on one side and Christians on the other, who were demanding an end to paganism. Hypatia symbolized learning and science which those early Christians identified with paganism. With the death of Synesuis she was left vulnerable to those who sought to get rid of her.

Cyril, the Archbishop of Alexandria, considered Hypatia to be a symbol of the learning and science which he considered to be pagan. “In the year 415, on her way to work she was set upon by a fanatical mob of Cyril’s parishioners. They dragged her from her chariot, tore off her clothes, and, armed with shells, flayed her flesh from her bones. Her remains were burned, her works obliterated. Cyril was made a saint”

Hypatia lives on forever, though, sitting serenely on the Moon, her crater located near the crater that was named for her father. Her reputation has inspired the imaginations of many writers.

Daisy Says: In the words of Hypatia

“Reserve your right to think, for even to think wrongly is better than to not think at all.”–Hypatia

Get in shape and stay in shape! Include some form of physical discipline in your daily routine. Life is for marathoners!

Build and preserve your mind. Feed your mind with pureness, positive, and power. Spend time with nature, a positive and uplifting book, inspiring music and wonderful uplifting people.

Keep your spirit strong because sometimes life will throw a curve ball and you need to be tougher than the negative situations that come at you. Keep the faith. Did you know that fear and faith have the same definition? Definition: believing what you don’t see is going to happen!

Daisy Says: Build your reserve today physically, mentally, and spiritually.
